Hawzah News Agency-Many Shia Muslims including women and children fell unconscious and some of them were injured due to intense tear gas shelling and firing by the police who wanted to disperse peaceful protestors at Malir 15 on Monday.

Shia Muslims staged a peaceful sit-in on main national highway near Malir 15 to press the government to release all innocent Shia Muslims including Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain and Faisal Raza Abidi. But, SSP Korangi led police team that was subsequently joined by SSP Malir as well, reported to baton charge firing and tear gas shelling to force the protestors including women and children to disperse.

 Protesting against the recent illegal raids and arrests by law-enforcement agencies, enraged demonstrators staged a sit-in and blocked the traffic in Karachi area of Malir.

MWM leader Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi in a statement, while condemning Husain’s detention, said that “killings of the mourners and detentions of Shia leaders were a conspiracy to foil Karachi operation. Mirza Yousuf Hussain is a senior Shia cleric and known as the most respected Shia notable among the government and security quarters since he represents Shiites at security-related meetings with the security officials. It is strange that elderly Shia scholar was arrested without any case against him and the timing, in the wee hours like a culprit that is also totally unfair. Shia Muslims have condemned the government for midnight arrest of a senior Shia notable who happens to be a Shia cleric. His close aide Syed Ali Ousat was lost taken into illegal custody and his whereabouts were not known for last two weeks. Another Shia notable Faisal Raza Abidi was also detained and machination had it that he was being implicated in murder case.
